SEND Ghana
Citizens’ Manifesto on Social Protection Delivery
We were engaged by SEND Ghana and UNICEF to develop a communication strategy that would help in designing channels through which voters could share the issues that affected them most and for which they needed political parties that were contesting in the 2020 elections in Ghana to commit to in their various manifesto documents. For this assignment, we worked with SEND Ghana and its Civil Society partners to go round the country collating the views of a cross section of the citizenry, documenting them and refining same into thematic areas that had clear messages targeted at getting the attention of the political parties. Part of the things that we developed out of this work was the citizen manifesto document which was circulated across the country and shared with all the political parties that were contesting in the 2020 polls. We documented stories from regional consultations that were held across all the sixteen regions of Ghana and got them published in all the major media houses in Ghana. We set up media interviews and engagements with SEND Ghana advocacy officers and CSO partners to do sensitization on the project or programs being held.
We also set up strategic planning meetings between SEND Ghana officers and very senior editors and newsroom managers in Ghana to be able to place stories on platforms at times that ensured that the maximum possible impact was achieved. Below are some of the stories that were published out of the project.
